There is also a Vulvar probe which delivers energy to the vulvar region.

Just like you, many postmenopausal women are experiencing changes from decreased estrogen that can affect their quality of life in unexpected ways. This can result in Vulvovaginal Atrophy (also called Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause) which has symptoms such as:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Vaginal burning
  • Vaginal itching
  • Painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Painful urination (dysuria)
  • Vulvar discomfort
  • Lichens sclerosus
  • Vulvadynia

The MonaLisa Touch therapy has more than 8 clinical studies published.

In addition to clinical studies, the MonaLisa Touch is the only therapy that has published histological data.

The MonaLisa Touch is a fast, safe and simple procedure that can be done in your physician’s office. The procedure is typically performed by a gynecologist, a urogynecologist or a urologist.

The in-office procedure is virtually painless, requires no anesthesia and typically is done under 5 minutes.

For vaginal treatment, patients receive three 5 minute in-office treatments that are spaced six weeks apart. For vulvar treatment, patients receive five in-office treatments that are spaced six weeks apart.

Most MonaLisa Touch patients feel improvement after the very first treatment, although the procedure calls for three 5 minute treatments that are generally spaced over a 12-week period.

After the initial treatment, patients should expect to come back annually for a maintenance treatment*.

*Your doctor will determine with you when follow up treatments are required.

Patients can return to normal activities after the procedure, but should refrain from sexual activity for 2-3 days. Your doctor will determine a post-procedure regimen that is right for you.

The MonaLisa Touch is appropriate for any female who has gone through menopause, as well as those who are experiencing post-menopausal symptoms as a result of a hysterectomy or breast cancer treatments.

Prices can range from 900 – 2500€ for the complete vaginal therapy. Patients should contact their doctor for details on the specific cost of treatment for their condition.
